Communities in Mind
Communities in Mind
What is Communities in Mind?
Communities in Mind is a collaborative mental health fundraising initiative launched in 2020 to support mental health programs in rural Alberta. Each February, five Alberta Co-ops, including Cornerstone Co-op, Central Alberta Co-op, New Horizon Co-op, South Country Co-op, and Westview Co-op, come together for a province-wide campaign focused on:
- Raising awareness
- Reducing stigma
- Funding meaningful, community-based mental health initiatives
Since launch, the campaign has raised nearly $300,000, with 100% of funds staying local and invested back into each Co-op’s trading area.
Campaign Dates
February 9th – 23rd, 2026
During the campaign, all Cornerstone Co-op locations collect till donations in support of mental health in our communities. When you donate, you’ll receive a paper heart to write your name on, which will be proudly displayed in-store.
Why It Matters
Mental health challenges affect individuals and families of all ages — and access to supports can be limited in rural communities. Communities in Mind helps ensure that locally raised funds are reinvested into programs, services, and initiatives that directly support mental health where we live and work.
Where the Funds Go
Funds raised through Communities in Mind are distributed locally through the Mental Health Support Fund, supporting community-based mental health initiatives across Cornerstone Co-op’s trading area.
Programs funded focus on:
- Children, youth, adults, and seniors
- Prevention, early intervention, and recovery
- Community connection, education, and awareness
